Awesome iBlog8 (Day 1)

Today was my first ever iBlog summit attendance.

The iBlog 8 (#iBlog 8) summit is an annual event for bloggers, social media practitioners, and digital marketers to gather and share the best practices and tricks of the trades too. The event was not limited for blogging itself; but also a venue for social media, advocacy, etiquettes and standards, monetary opportunities and marketing venues respectively.

Speakers from various specialties were present. Their industry insights ranging from SEO (on-site optimization),  identifying niche (applicable for those bloggers who weren’t able to point their blogs just yet), social media activation, monetary opportunities in blogging, and relevance of social media in driving awareness in social advocacies are truly worth listening for.

For a first timer attendee, I must say that the event is perfect for bloggers who haven’t had the chance to tap their hobby into something with purpose and can drive interaction in the long run. Overall, to sum up the first day, blogging is not just something about you write what you feel to express. Given the right vehicle and responsibility, blogging could be an opportunity to help society for change and likewise be a venue for interaction as well.

In summary, the formula (as a summary that I could think of) : Purpose + Relevant Content = Relevant Blog Traffic (and in the long run, monetary opportunities).

See you in the next iBlog summit!

21 Jump Street: Define Badass Comedy

21 Jump Street is actually the reboot of the 1980′s TV series of the same name. The series paved for the popularity of Johnny Depp, Holly Robinson Peete and the rest.

Some of you might thought that the 2012 reboot franchise was just a so-so. Uhm, you should think twice. The movie itself was hilarious itself. The unexpected tandem of Channing Tatum (who by the way was a first timer in comedy) and Jonah Hill was a knockout.

I swear that it’s my first time to witness fellow cinema goers to laugh their hearts out over the crazy funny one liners. Remember the Korean Jesus scenes? Or Johnny Depp cameo? (Oopsie!) Channing Tatum could indeed pull out the funny bone in him. He wasn’t the trying-hard funny guy in this.

The cussing dialogues doesn’t hurt the film. The added element of the high school setup makes it more interesting. Overall, the film is a must watch for everyone. Swear.

Holy Week Thirst Quencher: Buko Shake

I used to think that best thirst quencher (for the summer) is halo-halo. Everything changed when I tried a buko shake that is genuinely yummy and perfect blend for the raging summer heat.

Last Good Friday, it was a hot day. I only wanted a water and coke to get my thirst fix. But it was a bottle of buko shake that got me crazed for the last weekends. For only 50 bucks, you can enjoy a liter of buko shake and the best part is that it doesn’t taste too sweet and incredibly cheaper than the regular coca-cola, pepsi, RC,  iced coffee and Zagu too.

Unfortunately, the buko shake kiosk around the area lasted until Easter Sunday. But I’ll try to squeeze other possible buko shake kiosk. #MustTryDrinkForSummer

Pinterest and SEO

Social Media is indeed changing its game from time to time. Aside from Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, there comes Pinterest.

Pinterest by the way is a new player in the social media world. You can post a pin (equivalent to post a photo), upload a pin and repin someone else’s post. However, if you’re an SEO, you can take a good advantage of this SNS.

How do you make Pinterest a good advantage in your SEO? Here are the following tips:

1. When uploading a photo, make sure it’s interesting.

2. Try to optimize your image by incorporating keywords in your title.

3. Take advantage of the ‘Follow’ button. This will avoid your profile to look spammy.

4. Make your postings interesting.

5. Avoid spamming pinterest.

Have fun pinning!

Sad News for the Day

Everyone has been shocked with the Robinsons Galleria shootout (whatever you call it). As I was working, I can’t help but take a peek at my twitterThe incident was able to land at the PH Trending Topics and as usual, the security scrutiny explodes.

Everyone has their own take of this unfortunate event. Sadly, no one wants to take accountable for such incident. Yes, there could be security problems. It seemed that this tragedy would be one of those under the spotlight again. Sadly, justice won’t be served for now.

Travel Destinations

Let’s face it: everyone has their travel destination. Whether it maybe a local destination or an international, we all have a list in our head on places to visit (given an opportunity to do this).

And here’s mine:

1. Slovakia – For some reasons, I find the place interesting. Period.

2. Budapest, Hungary – The Amazing Race Asia season 2 had a feature about the place. The place looks like medieval infrastructures meets the modern structures. Pretty awesome. P.S: I wanna experience the real Oktoberfest though.

3. Shibuya District and Tokyo Tower, Japan – I always watch animes and some of the J-dramas series I’ve watched featured Tokyo Tower. On the other hand, Shibuya district is a known place in Japan. Think about the cute and cosplay-ish fashion statements. So, everyday cosplay is much fun, right?

4. Midway Island –  The place looks spectacular and promising. I just saw a review online and I think the place is something worth visiting.

5. Russia – Ever since I saw the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, I included the place as my dream destination.

Any other thoughts on your dream travel destination? Leave your comments below :)

I Miss 90s

Now that I’m 24, I still can’t help but reminisce the 90s because that’s my era and probably the priceless experience that I could ever think of yet. That’s aside of course from the music :)

During the 90s, we’ve all adored Boy Bands and Girl Bands. Also, successful TV shows were pretty evident as well. Hey, I also forgot that cartoons and japanese cartoons were the cool thing as well.

By the way, here are other reasons why I love 90s:

1.  90s was the decade where you can enjoy the simplest luxury of childhood. You can play hide and seek and became a brat (it’s you versus the folks when you watched a television!).

2. Boybands and Girlbands were the in thing in music. Take it from the Backstreet Boys to N’Sync to New Kids on the Block and Spice Girls.

3.  I miss watching Wish Bone, Are you Afraid of the Dark, Power Rangers, Bioman, Masked Rider, Clueless and Shaolin Kid as well.

4. During the 90s, toys were not as complicated as now. I remember one time where I had a play-doh and played with my sisters. You can have as much toys as you want and enjoy it.

Honestly, I can’t comprehend as to why kids are so much into acting like an adult and stuff. In the first place, there’s nothing wrong about childhood. Just enjoy your years ’cause sooner or later, you’ll have to face world and deal with that.

Writing and Writing

I’ve been in line with writing ever since I started working. I must say that almost four years is truly a roller coaster ride. Before, I used to think that I could make great shakes out of it, but was proven all wrong when I learned about SEO.

It was 2009 when I formally started to learn about Google and anything internet. At that time, my mindset was to write for the web and did some link building practices. Everything changed when I decided to continue it. I landed with Content Writing (with SEO too!). Up to now, I still continue doing such.

That would be all for now :)

Why Not Realistic?

Optimism could bring the best in us. Being positive all about things could either become far fetched or just become far from truth. For all these years, I thought I was a person positive all things about life. But things have changes after I stepped out of academe and begin working.

They say I’m too hard on myself; and that I’m not the positive person that I could think of. What’s wrong if you’re just being realistic about life? Of course, there’s nothing, right?

Now, the only say I could have for the moment is that Realistic ideals is just around the corner. If you allow yourself to be positive, then it’s fine. But allowing that positive energy to overwhelm you, then I think that there’s something wrong.  Being realistic about anything means that you’re fully aware of what’s going on – that everything is not made up of cotton candies, castles and fairy tales.  Realistic mind set is also a way of saying, ‘I’m ready to face the world. If I win, good and if I lose, then it’s fine.’

Honestly, there’s a lot to say about this stuff and I don’t want to offend others. But in the end, it’s all about you dealing with the ways of world.

What About SEO Copywriter

I’ve been working as SEO Copywriter for technically four years in a row. And I have not regretted every single day of writing blog entries, link building, social media and then, writing web contents.

Initially, I had the impression that SEO Copywriter is someone who writes. That’s minus of course the SEO side, fyi. And for you to become a good one, you have to be always familiar with google (Codename: Friendship with Google). Google Updates are really tough, especially if you know that you work hard in your write-ups. At first, I kept on thinking that Google Panda Updates are just W-T-F considering I haven’t had any first hand experience with actual SEO.

Things now have changed. And for you to keep up with SEO Copywriting, it also takes to know industry news and good practice with SEO too. In short, a combination of knockout writing skills and SEO too.

See ya later!
