Summer Komikon 2014: Unofficial Fangirl of the Day

Yesterday, I was able to be a fan girl – at least for a day.  Aside from that, I was so ecstatic because I was able buy another Ground Zero Comics. The first issue I got was too long ago, and yesterday, I was able to get the second and third issue :)

Ground Zero Comics (

Aside from Ground Zero, here are other stuff that I read:

  • Rodski Patotski, Ang Dalagang Baby - When Irish and me were scouting for good comic finds, we both came across this title. I was starstrucked that Sir Gerry Alanguilan and Mr. Arnold Arre was in the Hall. The comics on the other hand is a good combination of action and good laughs. Personally, I thought Rodski (the leading character) is a spoiled but unwanted character. As I flipped through the pages, I began appreciating her personality more especially Dindo (the feels!).  Basta, go read. I won’t spoil everything :) Rate: 4.5

Rodski Patotski

  • Ground Zero - I began reading this when I was in high school. I stopped reading it because I wasn’t able to buy the next issue after that.  It was 2002 then. Because of Summer Komikon, I was able to grab the second and the third one. It still features Mystic Girl, Soul Tempest and the other story.  It made me feel nostalgic, and still looking for another issue. Sadly, the answer is still uncertain. Rate: 4.5
  • Higantes - From the creators of Zombinoy comes another comic series. And no, it’s not about Zombies this time around. The story basically revolves around brothers who accidentally discovered a ‘drink’ after a chase with other guys. The story kin of reminded me of Jack and the Beanstalk…with Pinoy twist. Rate: 4.5

I Attended MozillaPH’s Social Media Series: Blogging 101

I’ve been a Mozilla user for years. All those times, I enjoy reading news, researching and utilizing internet using this browser. Fast forward, since my full-time work revolves around working online, I make sure that I use Mozilla to build links, use Facebook and Twitter to connect with my colleagues and also to online communities respectively.

shirerocks_mozillasummitMy goal of attending a Blogging/Social Media event came to life last February 8, 2014. Together with a friend, we were able to score slots at MozillaPH Social Media Series: Blogging 101.  For those hours spent at listening to blogger experts, I never thought that I can do more about my blog and the tools of the trade that I used such as:

  • WordPress (represent!)
  • Blogger (way way back)
  • Social Media (Hey, it’s part of the job) and
  • Blogging itself.

I used to think that WordPress and Blogger are just vehicles for bloggers to make a story for their audiences to follow. Now, I’ve learned that such platforms played a major role in shaping up the skills, knowledge and even the improvements of blogging. In addition, Speakers success in blogging are truly inspirational especially for bloggers who want to make a name for themselves, and use it for the greater good.

Speakers mentions of technical skills (coding, css, html, securing accounts), online marketing (use of facebook, twitter and blogging), blogging (tips for a successful blogging) are truly one-of-a-kind.  With the current job that I belong to, learning from speakers with such expertise gave me an inspiration to become a better blogger and social media marketer too.

I’m looking forward to attend for more events like this :)

Bounty Fresh: The Healthy Chicken

If I am craving for a chicken meal, I always wanted it to be safe from bacteria and must be truly trusted by everyone.

bounty fresh

The sophisticated poultry operation behind Bounty Fresh Chicken expertly produces the freshest, safest, and healthiest chickens—and the best, most delicious meals.

This simple truth is what drives Bounty Fresh Food, Inc. (BFFI) in its commitment to provide the highest-quality and best-tasting dressed chicken products in the Philippines. The company continues to leverage on its strong industry expertise and state-of-the-art chicken dressing facilities in order to bring delicious, healthy meals to the homes of every Filipino family.

“At BFFI, we believe that constant innovation is critical to the success of our company,” says Carl Chung, BFFI AVP for Farm Operations Management. “Every day we look for new ways to develop poultry products of the highest possible quality, and to strengthen our position as experts in dressed chicken.”

Thanks to its modern and robust processing capabilities, the Bounty Fresh Chicken brand has come to be recognized as “Asia’s best chicken”—with world-class products (fresh chicken, Chooks-to-Go, and processed meats) that millions of people have come to love.

Bounty Fresh Chicken is the result of a sophisticated poultry integration that uses the latest technologies in agricultural production and follows a program of the strictest quality control in every step. BFFI’s relentless focus on achieving the highest levels of operational excellence and bio-security has made the production of healthy chickens an extremely efficient, safe, and organized process.

BFFI’s advanced breeder operation for the production of Bounty Fresh Chicken includes specialized breeder farms, cool-cell hatcheries, tunnel-ventilated broiler farms, and grandparent farms. The company also has a national network of state-of-the-art corn dryers and feed mills to provide all-natural feeds made from quality tested raw materials that are so vital in ensuring the chickens’ healthy growth, proper nutrition, and wellness to make it always safe for consumption.

The breeder operation, which is run by BFFI’s highly skilled agricultural technicians, also provides the ideal environment for chicken growth and healthy egg production. All BFFI farms, hatcheries, and facilities are extremely clean and well-maintained and even climate-controlled, and the breeders are not confined in cages. Systems were also designed to increase farm efficiency while giving the birds a comfortable, healthy, and bio-secure environment.

The company’s modern breeder houses also make the eggs free from debris and dirt, with programs in place to help the birds produce eggs which are uniform in size and weight. For improved reliability and efficiency, BFFI uses automated feeding and egg collection systems to allow the eggs to rest before delivery to the hatcheries. Industry standards are set and followed for maximum hatchability; humidity, temperatures, and storage time are always controlled to promote healthy chick development, growth, and quality.

And because of its innovative mindset, BFFI was also the first to introduce single-stage hatchery incubation systems designed to group eggs of similar sizes and source so that they incubate together. Once hatched, the chicks are pulled from the hatcheries then brought to BFFI’s tunnel-ventilated broiler farms so they could grow consistently in terms of size and weight. These farmsare always kept clean and bio-secure using a tested disinfection system and strict farm rules where all farm personnel are required to take showers before entering the houses. The result: healthy, strong, uniformly grown chicken that are free from physical defects, with all the qualities that consumers later recognize in the distinct fresh taste and juiciness, and tender goodness of Bounty Fresh Chicken.

BFFI’s award-winning processing plants have always been known to produce the freshest, best-quality poultry products in the Philippines. To ensure that they are free from disease and foreign materials, all chicken first undergo a thorough inspection process with stringent bio-security measures. They are then vacuum-sealed to keep the natural flavors and juices in while also prolonging refrigerated shelf life. These award-winning plants—conferred by the National Meat Inspection Service as among the country’s best and cleanest and stamped with consistent Triple A (expert quality) ratings—enable BFFI to establish Bounty Fresh as the brand made by the experts in chicken.

“We take pride in supplying the marketplace with fresh, safe, and healthy chickens that reward Filipino innovation and creativity,” says Chung. “Bounty Fresh Chicken responds to different styles of preparation—from the most basic recipes to complex gourmet meals—and bursts with a unique taste that you wouldn’t get from other brands. It’s no ordinary chicken, produced by no ordinary operation.”

SCHICK winds down Suaveng Ahit, Gwapong Schick Barangay Tour

Pasig City gives premium on the cleanliness of the community and the welfare of its residents. SCHICK’s advocacy campaign, Suaveng Ahit, Gwapong Schick Barangay Tour, found this for a fact as it reached its last leg on September 30 in Barangay Kalawaan, Pasig City, which was hailed as “Pinakagwapong Barangay” together with the dance diva, Regine Tolentino.

Schick, one of the country’s most trusted brands for effective grooming, started this advocacy barangay tour in December 2012. It aims to promote proper personal grooming and also cleanliness in the community, for the ‘Gwapong Mamamayan’ which is about personal grooming, Schick provided free haircut and shaving services to the residents of the areas we visited. Thousands of samples of Schick Exacta2 Disposables were given away.  For Gwapong Syudad, we have worked with the Barangay of the community and promoted maintaining cleanliness of the surroundings.   The barangay caravan got under way first to Salamalabanan Subdivision in Imus Cavite, then of Antipolo, Muntinlupa, Novaliches, Caloocan, and Pasig City. The caravan held several activities such as three-on-three basketball game, a free-throw and half-court shootout, and a dance showdown that promoted sportsmanship among the participants.

Barangay Kalawaan, Pasig City, was awarded the best-looking barangay because of its liveliness despite its dense population. Its busy streets proved that the barangay was a winner, together with its officials who helped achieve peace and order as well as healthy lifestyle.

“Unang-una nagpapasalamat po ako sa programang SCHICK dahil kami ang napilibilang Pinaka-gwapong Barangay,” said Barangay Kalawaan Captain Jaime “Jimmy” Lee. “Maraming tao ang natulungan at nakinabang dito sa aming barangay lalo na ang SAKTODA, added Lee.

Schick has always believed that being well groomed boosts not just physical but also mental wellness, and hence makes for a more confident community.

“We plan to do this event through our distributors across Philippines and have their own mini barangay tour of the Suaveng Ahit, Gwapong Schick,” said stated SCHICK Marketing Manager Cara Ramirez-Tecson. “We believe in its advocacy of promoting proper personal grooming while ensuring that we keep the community in mind as well when it comes to wellness and cleanliness. This activity also enables us to improve our distribution in areas we have opportunities since it includes merchandising blitz and sari-sari promotions that help our brand, Schick be more accessible to our consumers.
